Gov. Bello Attends Maigeri's Burial, Said Vacuum Will Be Filled Accordingly

By Ayobami Omole, Lokoja Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello today led other top officials to the burial of the Late Maigeri of Lokoja, HRH. Alh. (Dr.) Mohammed Kabir Maikarfi who died on Wednesday after a brief illness at the age of 80. The event was attended by Dignitaries from within and outside Kogi State including the Etsu Nupe, Dr Yahaya Abubakar, former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Arch. Yomi Awoniyi, Alh Isa Kutepa, Gen. Tunde Ogbeha Std and Former Federal Lawmaker, Hon. Sunday Karimi While Leading the jana'iza Prayers, the Chief Iman of Lokoja Sheikh Aminu Shaban prayed for the repose of the soul of the late mornach and asked for peace to reign in Lokoja and Kogi State. School Feeding: Kogi NSIP Sensitises Cooks For Effective Service Delivery

Lokoja, Sept. 24, 2022 In preparation for school resumption across the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State, the State Focal Person of National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), Hon. Prince Abdulkareem Suleiman Onyekehi, has conducted Sensitization and Compliance Engagement program for Cooks who are beneficiaries of the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSFP) in the state. Hon. Onyekehi, who doubles as the Special Adviser to Kogi Governor on Special Projects, was represented at the program on Friday in Lokoja, by the HGSFP Program Manager, Hajia Khadijat Karibo.  He emphasized the imperativeness of the sensitisation program which he said it concurrently took place across the three Senatorial Districts of the state. Over 20 Persons Feared Killed In Kogi Tanker Explosion

By Ayobami Omole, Lokoja  Over twenty persons were said to have been burnt to death when a tanker with full load of petrol lost control due to break failure and fell on the bridge of maboro river in Ankpa, Ankpa local government of kogi state.   This Is coming three weeks after armed robbers invaded several commercial banks after attacking the divisional police station leaving people dead.  An eyewitness said the incident happened around 3.30pm on Wednesday. According to him, the situation is not clear as to the numbers of death, saying some were burnt beyond recognition and body parts and debris of cars liters in the area . “Nobody knows the number of dead people now.  Many People were in the river doing one thing or the other when the tanker lost control, fell and exploded on the bridge. Measles Outbreak: Kogi Health Ministry Breaks Silence.

By Ayobami Omole, Lokoja  Kogi State Ministry of health has described a report of an outbreak of Measles in the state as misleading and confusing.  The News of the Outbreak have been circulated in some part of the electronic media that there is a report of over 50 cases of measles in Kogi state.  In a statement signed by the Health Commissioner, Dr. Zekeri Usman, the commissioner expressed dissatisfaction in the report that is making rounds for over 48 hours.  The statement reads "Good afternoon gentlemen of the press, it is important for me to address you this time as part of our continuous effort of informing the public of our drive in addressing various health challenges and giving out the right information as regards the health indices of the state. By Ayobami Omole, Lokoja  It’s no longer news that Thousands of People have been displaced and properties worth several millions of naira have been destroyed in Kogi State as a result of the overflow of the Rivers Niger and Benue. This of course includes the state’s seat of power as several communities in Lokoja including Ganaja, Adankolo and Kabawa Areas have been flooded as the water level keeps increasing at an alarming rate.  Although the Flood is currently destroying properties, farmlands, livestock and other business premises, the natural disaster have become a source of livelihood to so many people as youths and able bodied men have resorted into transporting people and properties with the use of canoe.
