End Extrajudicial Killings in Kogi East Now - AAC Candidate Achimugu

The gubernatorial candidate of African Action Congress, Engr. Austin Achimugu,  has strongly condemned the recent violent incidents occurring in Kogi East Senatorial District, resulting in casualties and injuries. Achimugu while addressing newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday utterly condemned the deadly act, adding that such should not be allowed to slide in a democratic system where the law exists. He said "Democracy should not be about the coercion and terrorism, but rather about persuasion and the exchange of ideas," Achimugu stated. Reports indicate that those responsible for the attacks and killings in Kogi East aim to instill fear and suppress political diversity, pushing people to align with a single political ideology. Democracy revolves around the majority and the freedom of choice, not political tyranny. By Ayobami Omole, Lokoja Kogi state educational institutions have become a great citadel of learning since the beginning of the Governor Yahaya Bello led administration that gave a maximum consideration to the educational system in the state. From the Primary to Tertiary level, Kogi’s educational system received a boost since the inception of the administration that gave an end to the tension that had ridden the sector in the time past. Prior 2016, Kogi’s educational system was characterized by non-payment of salaries, decayed infrastructure, sticking teachers, shortage of Teaching staff, irregular curriculum and other factors that mitigate the educational development in the state. Sometimes in 2014, teachers in Kogi state were on strike for over six months, leaving the students helpless and keeping them out of school as part of their complaints include non-payment of the new minimum wage, incessant screening of staff, irregular salaries, unpaid leave allowances, as well as promotion w...

Kogi West Initiative Condolences Yomi Awoniyi Over Mother's Death

  The Leadership of Kogi West Initiative have commiserate with the former deputy Governor of Kogi state H.E Arch. Abayomi Awoniyi over the death of his mother, Madam Florence Awoniyi who died at the age of 82. The group in a statement jointly signed by Hon. Soji Olumonrin, Alh. Ganiyu Salaudeen (Erukutu) and Alh. M.O Sule sent words of comfort and encouragement to the former Deputy Governor and the Entire Awoniyi Family.  The statement reads "We received the news of the transition of your lovely mother with a very heavy heart. Court Adjourns Suit Involving Atta Family, Mining Companies, Others

  BY AYOBAMI OMOLE-IYAGIN, Lokoja A Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja has adjourned the case with Suit No FHC /LKJ/C5/25/17 involving the Atta family as plaintiffs and two mining Companies Dangote Industries Limited , Dangote Cement Plc and  Federal Ministry of mine and Steel Development as defendants till 27th June 2023. The Plaintiffs, Prince Mahmud Sani Atta, Abdulmaliki Atta , Mohammed Sadiq Atta and Mohammed Shaibu Onochu Atta have dragged the defendants to Federal High Court in 2017 over alleged  granting of mining lease 2541 ML with No 00001103 dated 1st February , 2008 to the 1st  defendant by the second defendant and 3rd defendant without compliance with provision of Nigeria Mineral and mining Act 2007. The defendants are AICO, Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development ,the Mining Cadastre office , Dangote Industries Limited and Dangote Cement Plc. JUST IN: Buhari Endorse Kogi APC Gubernatorial Candidate

Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari has endorsed the candidature of Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forth coming Kogi State Governorship election.  Ododo in company of the state governor Yahaya Bello Visited the Presidential Villa and held private meeting with the president.  This is in continuation of Ododo's consultations and interface with critical stakeholders of the party.  The Governorship Candidate had earlier visited the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Sen. Abdulahi Adamu as well as other top politicians including former governors of Kogi state.
