2023; NSCDC Promises To Work Towards Peaceful Elections in Kogi State

-- as RECEF calls for more women participation in 2023 elections By Ayobami Omole, Lokoja The Kogi state commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, Oyinoye John, has assured that the command will work with all stakeholders to guarantee peaceful conduct of the 2023 general elections. The Commandant gave the assurance at the Kogi State Command Headquarters of (NSCDC), when he received the team from Renaissance Care and Empowerment Foundation (RECEF), who were on an Advocacy visit on how to enhance Women Participation in Election as Voice for Development Campaign. Earlier, the Executive Director of RECEF, Ambassador Idris Ozovehe Muraina, said the visit was aimed at advocating for peaceful elections come 2023 in Kogi State. The Executive Director presented a copy of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, 2022 to the commandant to guide the activities of the command towards 2023 elections in the state. Fire Razes Kogi Assembly Amidst Allegation of Threat To Life   By Ayobami Omole, Lokoja.   The entire Kogi State House of Assembly’s Legislative Chamber and its Gallery were razed by fire in the early hours of Monday. It was gathered that the fire started at midnight but the security agents that were said to be on duty got to know at about 7 am on Monday morning. The inferno consumed the Legislative Chamber leaving nothing including the roof of the building, Furniture and other electronics that are inside the chamber. Other affected places include the Control Offices where the chairs, tables and other office equipment were completely consumed. This is coming barely 24 hours after the State Assembly raised alarm over threat to the life of the speaker and the principal officers of the Assembly. PCN Shuts 311 Drug Outlets, Pharmacies for Various Infractions in Kogi

By Ayobami Omole, Lokoja   The Pharmacist Council of Nigeria,PCN has sealed a total of three hundred and eleven drug distribution premises in Kogi for offences bothering on operating without registration or renewal of premises certificates and unauthorised sale of performance enhancement drugs.   The Director and head of enforcement department,PCN , Pharmacist Stephen Esumobi disclosed this in a news conference in Lokoja.  He also said three vendors were arrested for breaking the seal in an operation that lasted one week which took the enforcement department to every parts of the state to enforce the rules of operation set up by the PCN.  According to him, the PCN enforcement team have been in Kogi state since the beginning of the week as part of efforts to streamline the drug distribution system.
